An overview of Archivero and what makes it the ideal research platform.
Introduction to Archivero
Archivero is a modern knowledge management platform designed for researchers, students, and professionals who work with large amounts of information.
Core Concepts
Sources
A Source is any piece of content you bring into Archivero — a web article, academic paper, PDF, video, or your own notes. Every source is stored in your personal library and can be revisited at any time.
Collections
Collections are containers for organizing your sources. Think of them as smart folders that can be nested, tagged, and shared. Collections support:
- Hierarchical nesting (up to 5 levels deep)
- Shared access with collaborators
- AI-powered suggestions for related content
Tags
Tags are lightweight labels you can apply to any source or collection. They work across your entire library and make filtering fast.
AI Assistant
The built-in AI Assistant understands the full context of your library. You can ask it to:
- Summarize a long document in seconds
- Find connections between sources
- Answer questions grounded in your own research
- Draft reports using your collected sources
Architecture
Archivero is built on a modern tech stack:
| Layer | Technology |
|---|---|
| Frontend | Next.js 15, React 19, Tailwind CSS v4 |
| Mobile | React Native with Expo |
| Backend | Node.js with REST + WebSocket APIs |
| AI | OpenAI GPT-4 with RAG pipeline |
| Storage | PostgreSQL, S3-compatible storage |
Privacy and Security
Your data belongs to you. Archivero uses:
- End-to-end encryption for sensitive content
- Role-based access control for team workspaces
- GDPR-compliant data processing and storage
- SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure
